Background

Progress321 is a non-profit 501(c)(3) founded by a group of professionals with a mission to unify our professional ecosystem to provide access and placement to create a better quality of life in our region. Our vision is to make the Paso Del Norte region the best place for professionals to live and work.

Overview

The Board of Directors of Progress321 (“Board”) governs the overall execution of the organization’s mission. Principally, the Board manages organizational finances and sets long-term priorities for programs. The Board oversees the Executive Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization. Overall, the members of the Board contribute the skills needed to ensure long-term organizational stability for Progress321’s mission.

The Board of Directors has up to 20 voting members. The initial 2-year term begins January 1, 2025 and ends December 31, 2026, with an option to renew for up to 2 additional 2-year terms.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, October 18th at 1:00 PM (MT). The nominating committee will review all applications and may reach out to candidates for an in-person or virtual interview. All board selections will be finalized in December 2024 with a New Board Member Orientation taking place in January 2025.

Board Member Responsibilities

Attend monthly Board meetings (average 11 per year), as well as special meetings or electronic conversations as part of Board committees. Regular attendance is expected, and missing more than 3 meetings may result in removal from the Board.

The Board of Directors hold fiduciary responsibility for the management of organizational capital and ensuring appropriate filings with federal, state, and local authorities consistent with the organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 

Review and understand the organization's bylaws for compliance with governance requirements and to set forth the standard operating procedures of the organization.

Time and Resource Considerations

Board positions require time and energy commitment that should not be underestimated. On average, Board members can anticipate up to 20 hrs/month depending on their committee assignment. Candidates are urged to consider personal priorities for the next two years as well as the ways to contribute to the development of the organization. Resources available to prospective members include Bylaws, FY Budget, Events Calendar, and others upon request.

Board Commitment:

Financial/Membership:

  • Board members must retain a current membership.

  • Board members are required to assist in raising a minimum of $2,500/annually in sponsorships for programs or in membership dues from new members.

  • Membership Retention: Board Members are asked to network with members at monthly events, engage them within the organization and to assist in the renewal of memberships.

Meetings:

  • Board Meetings - Meetings typically occur late-afternoon, the last Wednesday of each month. In-person attendance is preferred.

  • Support and attendance at monthly programs: this includes but is not limited to: One Region One Table, El Paso Everywhere, Bi-Annual Member Meetings, programming events, etc.

Committees:

  • Directors will actively serve and play a leadership role on at least one Progress321 committee, supporting our annual initiatives.
